Katz’s Deli in Montrose Is Getting a Fancy New Redesign

Source: Eater.com

Old-school delicatessen Katz’s Deli & Bar’s Montrose location is getting a fresh new look. The Houston Business Journal reports that the diner famous for its corned beef, slow-cured pastrami, and chocolate egg cream is undergoing an interior renovation that will be complete in early April.

Austin’s Michael Hsu Office of Architecture is handling the redesign, which spans both floors. It’s happening in phases, so the 24/7 restaurant will never close. The design itself sounds fancy and very 2018, with features like a custom brass Warbach chandelier, a communal dining table, and electronic charging stations. It’s still going to look like a diner though, with red leatherette seating and subway tiles.
